Inter Library Loan (ILL/IBL)

Borrowing from other libraries

The Hague Library is part of a national network of big public libraries, the National Library of the Netherlands (KB), university libraries and libraries of other specialised and academic institutions. Materials which we do not have in our collection can be requested from other libraries for a small charge, through the Interlibrary Loan Service (interbibliothecair leenverkeer IBL).

Interlibrary loans are subject to the following conditions and guidelines:
-In order to submit an IBL request, you must be a member of the Public Library Service (Dienst Openbaar Bibliotheek DOB).
-Materials from the DOB collection which are not available for borrowing (such as reference works) cannot be requested elsewhere.
-Materials from the DOB collection which are on loan may not be requested elsewhere. You may reserve these materials online through the DOB catalogue and at the information desks.
-There is no guarantee that all requests can be fulfilled.
-The materials can be collected from and returned to the DOB issue desks.
-This service is subject to a charge.

Materials which can be requested:
-books
-reports
-copies of magazine articles
-sheet music
-CDs
-other (documentary videos, feature films on video, CD-ROMS, language courses) to a more limited extent.

Costs
An IBL request costs € 1.00 in administration costs and € 3.00 on delivery, so a total of € 4.00. No lending charge is added to this.

Lending period
The materials may be borrowed for the same length of time as at The Hague Library.
